Preparing our Wild and Essential Blends for your adult dog or cat can be as simple as adding 40g of HUNDE to 1kg of raw muscle meat, and then serving in daily portions.
If you would like to include meaty bones in your pets’ diet for dental health and mental enrichment (which we strongly encourage), reduce the muscle meat to 800g and add up to 200g of meaty bones instead, with 40g of Wild or Essential Blend.
Good meaty bones are things like necks, ribs and feet, which your dog or cat will fully consume.
Ideally you will regularly rotate through a few different meats and include some extras like eggs, fresh veggies, emu oil and bone broth, but all you need to get started is the blend of your choice and your pet's favourite meat.
If you have a puppy or kitten, our blends are a great way to ensure they're getting all of their nutritional needs met during this important growth period of their life.
You just need to make a few small adjustments.
For puppies, the meaty bones provide essential minerals for healthy bone development so you will need to include them. You also need to increase the blend portion slightly to 50g per 1kg of meat and bones.
For kittens, bones are optional but you will need to increase the amount of HUNDE to 60g per 1kg of raw meat and meaty bones (if you include them).
Vital blend is designed to be used in conjunction with a homemade diet based on the ratio, BARF or 80/10/10 principles. These diets typically include muscle meat, meaty bones and some secreting organs (like liver and kidney), and balance the diet over time, through offering variety.
We love this approach in theory, but unfortunately these diets still tend to fall short in many vitamins and minerals. You can't balance nutrients over time if they're simply not present.
Vital Blend fills these common nutritional gaps using just half as much as Wild or Essential blend, meaning you get twice as much value out of a bag.
Simply add 20g of Vital Blend to 1kg of your DIY mix.
