The feline version of our signature blend is a meal-balancing essential that fills the common nutritional gaps in homemade cat food, in one simple step. This highly palatable, whole foods powder is a high-meat formulation for obligate carnivores, freeze-dried to lock in the nutrients of fresh food.

Simply add Essential blend to raw or lightly cooked meat to create a balanced meal of species-appropriate and functional ingredients, supporting your cat’s health with food – as nature intended. Cats thrive on dark meats from small animals, like poultry, rabbit and kangaroo.

Adding meaty bones is optional for adult cats; this blend is formulated to meet the minimum requirement for calcium in adult cats with or without meaty bones, but we strongly recommend them for dental health, and to satisfy their natural prey instincts (and reduce the impact outdoor cats can have on native wildlife).

Growing kittens must be fed meaty bones alongside Essential blend, to ensure they obtain the ideal balance of calcium and phosphorus for growing musculoskeletal systems. Jump on our feeding calculator to work out the specifics. If your kitten won’t eat whole bones, you can use a bone-in pet meat, bash the bones up with a meat mallet, or add a bone meal supplement.

This blend can also be used as a meal topper to add important nutritional variety to any food, and to improve palatability for our classically fussy feline friends.

This blend has been formulated in line with the nutritional needs of cats of all ages, as they are set out by the National Research Council and AAFCO. Due to the variable nature of each person’s approach to DIY food, it is impossible to formulate precisely to these standards in every situation, without adding vitamin and mineral supplementation, which we won't do. That's the whole point of our products. This blend is made from 100% whole food ingredients, and we're confident that it fills the nutritional gaps typically found in a homemade diet, when used as directed.

Meal-prep with Essential blend is as simple or as complicated as you want to make it. All you need to add is muscle meat, although we encourage you to include raw meaty bones and other variety, like eggs.

If you plan to make you cat's food in batches, just 40g of Essential Blend creates 1kg of incredibly nutritious, homemade cat food.

If your cat will eat bones or if they're still growing, replace up to 20% of the muscle meat with suitable raw meaty bones.
